Private House, West Hampstead

A three-storey Edwardian property with a partial basement in the West Hampstead conservation area was extensively rebuilt and expanded into a contemporary home behind a retained façade. The interior features eight bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a newly constructed basement housing a cinema, fitness room, playroom, and plant room. Lightwells were used to create two guest bedrooms.

A new centrally located staircase, top-lit and equipped with new windows on the half landings, brings natural light into the heart of the home. In the entrance hall, the open riser treads are cantilevered from a spine wall with a full-height glass screen serving as a balustrade.

A 50m² family room with 3.3m tall double-glazed bi-fold doors in a new rear extension overlooks a landscaped garden, which cascades down into the basement. This design opens the children’s playroom and spare bedroom to the garden via full-height sliding doors.

The family room connects to the kitchen through the dining room, which is enclosed by full-height pocket doors. This layout allows the kitchen, dining room, and family room to flow seamlessly to the garden or be closed off for privacy.
The kitchen features a high gloss white lacquer finish with a quartz worktop. High-end specifications include a fully integrated A/V and security system, bespoke joinery units, underfloor heating throughout, hardwood engineered floors, and high-quality large format tiles in all wet areas.
